How to Get Involved
-
The public is invited to view the bald eagles when they first arrive in June, and when they are
released in mid- to late-July. If you wish to be put on a notification list for these events, please fax
the ECC (contact information is listed below).
-
The ECC needs volunteers to help with designing programs, letter writing,
tutoring members for the GED exam, maintenance work, technical support, clerical help, and fund
raising. The ECC also needs a volunteer to help lead the volunteer team.
-
The ECC needs cash donations to support many aspects of the program, including clean-up and
habitat reclamation projects along the Anacostia River, materials for the eagle nesting site, the
satellite tracking system and computers for monitoring eagles, and general improvements to the
ECC Center in the old pumphouse, which will host the Bald Eagle Library and Bald Eagle
Computer Center.
-
The following materials are on the ECC's "wish list": a small refrigerator, microwave oven, a crew
cab truck, a 15-passenger van, a Jeep, Macintosh or IBM-compatible computers, 2- and 4-drawer
file cabinets, a full-size desk, folding chairs, office chairs, camera, video camera, VCR, television,
and a 30-40 foot Coast-Guard-approved boat.
